Fee Area, Day Use ONLY. The fee for using this area is $5 per day per carload, and it is day use ONLY - no camping or overnight parking.

Trail Navigation. Find the trailhead near the trash bins and pit toilets and start walking. Go straight through the sidewalk intersection and walk into the forest. Continue and keep your eyes to the right to find the fork to the open rock where the easternmost viewpoints are located. Circle around while taking in the views east and then north out to Natural Arch. Crossover the trail to reach the developed overlook for views north and northwest. Return to the parking lot by taking the paved path uphill.

HIKER NOTE - Sunrise. Between the equinoxes, the sunrises here are fantastic. Take in the views from the overlooks and venture down to watch the sun light up the arch if you choose. On foggy mornings, the scene is even better - make some coffee and enjoy the show.

HIKER NOTE - Sunsets. Nearest the summer solstice, you can enjoy a nice sunset from here. If you’re looking for a better sunset view other times of year, head out to Buzzard Rock a little further south on US-27.

CAUTION - Deadly Drops. Long falls from high places are the #1 non-health related cause of death for hikers in Kentucky. Keep your distance from the edges of cliffs to avoid a deadly fall. Young children should be kept close.

CAUTION - Poisonous Snakes. Copperheads and timber rattlesnakes can be found in the area. Should you encounter one, stop and slowly back away. Always give venomous snakes a wide berth. Know Before You Go => University of Kentucky Venomous Snake Guide

CAUTION - Black Bears. Ursus Americanus - a.k.a. the American black bear is growing in population throughout much of Kentucky. Know Before You Go => US Forest Service Black Bear Safety Tips
