Overview. This forest walk descends from the lodge and runs just west of the campground on a combination of double and single track trail. Though a bit loud with traffic noise nearest KY-227, the quiet sections are lush with mature hardwoods and loads of goodies on the forest floor.

Parking. Ample parking is available at the lodge. Park on the right (south) side upon entering the lot with a side trail leading to the trailhead.

Trail navigation. Locate the path to the trailhead on the south corner of the lodge parking lot. Go to lookers’ right of the lodge to reach the trailhead and shortly after turn right for the short lollipop. From here, descend until reaching an intersection with a sign pointing to Kentucky River Lock. Turn left here to stay on trail and continue until reaching the next trailhead at the campground. Proceed straight to continue the lollipop before ascending back to the lodge parking lot.

CAUTION - Poisonous Snakes. Copperheads can be found in the area. Should you encounter one, stop and slowly back away. Always give venomous snakes a wide berth. Know Before You Go => University of Kentucky Venomous Snake Guide
