Thelma Stovall Park and Arboretum Fitness Loop and Launch

Overview. This is a very nice municipal park with a paved fitness loop, busy pickleball courts, boat ramp, kayak rentals, arboretum, and 4.5 mile singletrack hiking trail that I didn’t know existed. With limited time, I walked the paved loop, but will return to hike the wooded trails and put in for a long paddle on Green River (~38 miles).

Parking. A mid-sized parking lot is just past the pickleball courts. This park appears very active, so creative parking might be required on weekends.

Trail Navigation. Walk out toward the boat launch past the far side of the parking lot and pick-up the signed walking trail from there.

HIKER NOTE - Handicap Accessible. This is a flat, paved path that is accessible to wheelchairs.

HIKER NOTE - Hiking Trail. Trailheads for the 4.5 mile hiking trail are located off the northernmost section of the paved loop. No maps of this trail appear to exist. Next time out, I’ll make one;-) Total, that would come in around 5.4 miles for the paved and dirt paths.

HIKER NOTE - Kayak and Canoe Rentals. Big Buffalo Crossing Canoe and Kayak operates out of the park seasonally. Visit their website here.

CAUTION - Drowning. Be careful when visiting river access areas. Drowning remains a very popular cause of death among outdoor recreationists.
