Snow Day at Devil’s Canyon Overlook
Overview. I stopped here twice waiting for the clouds to break and finally caught a big view with a beautiful sky. This little walk out overlook is always beautiful. It’s also a cool spot to watch sunrise as the sandstone cliffs light up with a little fog playing in the canyon when conditions are right.

RULE REMINDER - Day Use ONLY. No camping is permitted here - and that’s a good thing. Rather than clogging up parking with campers and backpackers, you’ll find plenty of spots early morning and late afternoon even on busy weekends.
HIKER NOTE - Snow and Ice. Whenever these are present, stay behind the fenced area. An exposed patch of rock is located on approach left, but when snow or ice are here, it’s a bad idea to temp Old Man Winter.
HIKER NOTE - Last Stop of the Day. If you’re hiked out, stop here to enjoy sunset without having to hike-hike. Grab a soda and have a sit here.
CAUTION - Poisonous Snakes. Copperheads and timber rattlesnakes can be found in the area. Should you encounter one, stop and slowly back away. Always give venomous snakes a wide berth. Know Before You Go => University of Kentucky Venomous Snake Guide
CAUTION - Black Bears. Ursus Americanus - a.k.a. the American black bear is growing in population throughout much of Kentucky. Know Before You Go => US Forest Service Black Bear Safety Tips
