Overview. This short hike is better known to climbers than hikers, but still provides some spectacular geology. It had been years since my last visit, but the textures of the walls and the massive leaning rock is worth the sweat required.

Parking. Limited roadside parking is available along Indian Creek Road. Do NOT block traffic. There are no trash bins or pit toilets at the trailhead. Pack it in, pack it out, and don’t forget to take your used TP with you.

Trail Navigation. Locate the trailhead on the east side of the road just south of the bridge and begin walking steadily uphill. The initial section is a little overgrown due to lack of canopy, but soon enough tree cover arrives. Take your time on the switchbacks until finally arriving at the sandstone wall at the top. There are a number of climbing routes here that are identifiable by the white chalk marks forming pathways on the wall. Continue as far as you like along the sandstone face before returning to the trailhead by retracing your steps.

CAUTION - Climbing Area. When climbers are present, be sure to give a wide berth and to hike quietly so climbers can communicate clearly with their belayers.

CAUTION - Poisonous Snakes. Copperheads and timber rattlesnakes can be found in the area. Should you encounter one, stop and slowly back away. Always give venomous snakes a wide berth. Know Before You Go => University of Kentucky Venomous Snake Guide
