Summer 2024 Goals

Many years ago, I read a book titled The Power of Focus and since then have setup my goals in similar fashion. Here they are for this Summer:

PHYSICAL

  • Continue weight loss - Peak was 240 lbs. in December ‘23, starting the Summer at 227 lbs., looking to drop down to 215 lbs. by Labor Day. Need to solve the peak training weight gain effect (I think fructose is the problem).

  • Run faster - After developing a solid endurance base in Spring, it’s time to get faster. Specifically, sub-30 minute 5K and sub-60 minute 10K.

  • Average a marathon/week - This includes running, hiking, and walking.

INTELLECTUAL

  • Learn to use Kindle Create - I’ll be reorganizing content on the website into books available on Kindle. The goal is to start small and figure things out from there.

  • Continue learning French - I still can’t have a conversation, but can pick-up a few words here and there. Goal with this is to travel to Quebec City and out to the coast for hiking and then to the French Alps after mastery in a couple more years.

KENTUCKY HIKER PROJECT

  • Publish first-timers guide to RRG - This will be a first foray into book publishing with a narrow scope to provide first-time visitors with a set of hikes that are an ideal introduction to the Red. And to provide content to keep them off search and rescue reports.

  • Continue work on RRG compendium - I will eventually publish a comprehensive guide to RRG that includes every sensible route from every trailhead on marked and unmarked trails.

  • Continue publishing web pages, weekly emails, and resume the podcast.
