cavecountrytrails.com
One of the most exciting Kentucky-based websites I’ve seen in a long time is Cave Country Trails. It’s a compilation of the many things to do outdoors in the Mammoth Cave/Bowling Green Region of Kentucky.
The website has a nice Google Maps feature with different colored pins for activities that include hiking, paddling, mountain biking, cycling, horseback riding, and caving.
You can filter the map based on activity type and locate things to do near where you’ll be visiting.
In essence, it’s a great first resource for planning your outdoor adventures in the region.
While I visited Mammoth Cave many times as a child and then as a parent, I’m not terribly familiar with the area beyond the standard things to do around the park.
This website, however, quickly expands the set of possibilities.
A couple things that were made easy by this website included finding all the different cave tour providers and learning more about the 36-mile Green River Blue Water Trail.
Traditionally, this information is spread out across a variety of websites, but this one puts everything together quite nicely.
In essence, the website answers the question, “What is there to do outside?”
Just keep in mind that the website is built with breadth in mind. Use it as a starting point and research your activities from there.
