Parking. Ample parking is available along US-302 and at the AMC Highland Center.

Trail Navigation. Locate the trailhead near the train station and walk across the tracks on Avalon Trail. Shortly into the forest, you’ll reach a junction and turn left (south) to follow Mt. Willard Trail. Continue uphill passing Centennial Pool on your right and eventually topping out at the clifftop overlook. Enjoy your time here and notice the mountains from lookers’ left with the Presidential Range to lookers’ right for the Willey Range. In the midst is the deep cut that is Crawford Notch with US-302 and the rail line running through it. Retrace your steps to return to the parking areas.

CAUTION - Be Bear Aware. Black bear are plentiful in the region. Know Before You Go => US Forest Service Black Bear Safety Tips

CAUTION - Moose. Be aware and never approach moose. Leave a wide berth and turn back if needed.
